Banana Bread


 This recipe serves


  • 1/3 cup shortening Shortening, household, lard and vegetable oil
  • ¾ cup brown sugar Sugars, brown
  • 1 cup mashed bananas
  • 2 large eggs Egg, whole, raw, fresh
  • 1½ cups flour Wheat flour, white, all-purpose, enriched, unbleached
  • 1 tsp salt Salt, table
  • 1 tsp baking powder Leavening agents, baking powder, double-acting, sodium aluminum sulfate
  • ½ cup milk Milk, reduced fat, fluid, 2% milkfat, with added vitamin A
  • ½ cup nuts (optional) Nuts, walnuts, english


Step 1

Cream shortening & sugar. Add bananas& eggs. Sift flour , salt and baking powder together. Add to creamed mixture, alternating with the milk. Bake in a greased loaf pan at 350F for 1 hour. Turn out to a rack and cool.
