When you run out of chili sauce and there are no fresh tomatoes available for months, this is pretty good alternative. This recipe serves
Ingredients
- 2 28 oz cans tomatoes
- 1 small can tomato paste
- 2 large onions chopped Onions, raw
- 1 large green pepper chopped
- 1/2 cup white vinegar Vinegar, white
- 1/4 tsp each salt, dry mustard, and crushed red pepper
- 1/2 tsp each cloves cinnamon, ginger
- 3/4 tsp celery seed Spices, celery seed
- 3/4 cup brown sugar Sugars, brown
- optional, a bag of some pickling spice
Method
Step 1
Mix all ingredients in large pot. Simmer 20-30 minutes or more until correct consistency is reached . Pour into sterilized jars and seal.
