Stroganoff Dip

Three Meals a Day Recipe Collection

Interesting spin on an entree classic served as a dip.


  • 3/4 lb minced steak
  • 4 oz mushrooms
  • 1 onion
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 2 oz butter
  • 10 1/2 oz cream of chicken soup
  • salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 Tbs cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup red wine or port
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • chopped parsley


Step 1

Finely chop mushrooms and onion. Saute in butter with crushed garlic for 4 min. Add steak. Saute until the steak and mushrooms brown well. Pour off any excess fat. Add soup, bring to boil. Reduce heat, simmer 5 mins. Blend cornstarch in red wine and add to steak. Cook, stirring, until thickened. Season with salt and pepper.

Step 2

Refrigerate until cold. Just before serving, stir in sour cream. Sprinkle well with chopped parsley. Serve with crackers or biscuits.
