A substantial appetizer with an oriental flare.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 lbs pork steak or pork filets, cut 1/2" thick
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1 Tbs honey
- 3 Tbs dry sherry
- several grinds of black pepper
- 1/2 tsp powdered ginger
- 1 clove garlic, crushed
- 2 Tbs toasted sesame seed
- chicken broth cube and hot water
Method
Step 1
Trim all fat from pork. Place in shallow glass dish. Combine all ingredients except broth. Pour over pork and marinate for 2 to 3 hours at room temperature, turning often. Drain off liquid, saving the seed to pat on meat before roasting..
Step 2
Roast uncovered at 350F for about 45 minutes, turning frequently and basting with chicken broth. Do not use marinade for basting; its too salty.
Step 3
When pork is tender, remove from oven and cut into small diagonal slices to be speared on cocktail picks and served with drinks.
Step 4
The pork is best served at room temperature; don't chill it unless you must prepare it the day before.. If so, remove from refrigerator and allow to warm to room temperature.
