If you treat this as a  pizza it serves 6. If you use it as a pick it serves 16-20

  • 10 slices bacon, chopped
  • 5 cups sliced onions ( about 3 large )
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • 1/2 tsp salt ( I use seasoned salt)
  • ½ tsp freshly ground pepper
  • pinch grated nutmeg
  • 1--- 13.8 oz tube refrigerated pizza dough
  • ¼ tsp caraway seeds

Step 1

Preheat oven to 375F Saute bacon in heavy bottomed pan over medium high heat until slightly crisp.Remove crisp bacon to paper towel Drain off all but 1 Tbsp of the fat. Add onions to bacon pan and saute until very tender but not brown, about 20 minutes. Cool. Whisk egg, sour cream, salt, pepper and nutmeg to blend . Stir into cooled onion mixture to which you have added bacon. Roll out dough onto a lightly floured surface to 13X10 " rectangle. Transfer to baking sheet and top with the onion mixture, leaving ½" plain border around the edges. Sprinkle with caraway seeds Bake tart until onion custard is set and the crust is golden brown around the edges and brown on the bottom, about 25 minutes.
