Olives In Cheese Pastry2013-06-20

Change the stuffing in the olives to vary the flavours
- 1 cup plain flour
- pinch cayenne
- 100 g butter
- 1 1/4 cups grated tasty cheese
- 50 small stuffed green olives
- 1 egg, lightly beaten
- poppy seeds
Process flour, pepper and butter until combined. Add cheese, process until mixture forms a ball. Knead dough on lightly floured surface until smooth; cover and refrigerate 30 minutes. Drain olives on absorbent paper.
Roll pastry between sheets of greaseproof paper until 3 mm thick. Cut 1 1/2" rounds from pastry. Top each round with an olive, fold pastry around olives to enclose, roll into balls. Dip tops of balls in egg then seeds. Place on greased oven tray; cover and refrigerate 30 minutes.
Bake in moderately hot oven (375F) for about 15 minutes or until browned; cool
