L.A. Cabbage Salad


 This recipe serves 6


  • 1 head cabbage, shredded Cabbage, raw
  • 10 green onions, chopped Onions, green, spring or scallions (includes tops and bulb), raw
  • 2 carrot, shredded Carrots, raw
  • 2 pkgs TopRamen noodles-chicken flavoured, crushed
  • 1/4 cup almonds-sliced, toasted Nuts, almonds, dry roasted, without salt added
  • 4 Tbs sesame seeds, toasted Seeds, sesame seeds, whole, dried
  • 1/4 cup butter/marg
  • 1/2 cup salad oil Oil, olive, salad or cooking
  • 1/4 cup rice vinegar Vinegar, rice wine
  • 1/3 cup sugar Sugars, granulated
  • 1 Tbs soy sauce Soy sauce made from soy and wheat (shoyu), low sodium
  • 1/4 tsp sesame oil Oil, sesame, salad or cooking


Step 1

Brown crushed noodles in butter, add seasonings and sesame seeds. Cool. Add almonds.At last minute: Toss together cabbage,onions,carrots & noodle mix (reserving a little for garnish) Pour dressing over salad and mix well.
