Crispy Seed Fingers

An interesting change from the normal croutons.

Ingredients

  • Sesame Seed Fingers
  • 6 large slices brown or white bread ( toast thick)
  • 1/3 cup butter
  • 3/4 cup sesame seeds ( white is best)
  • sea salt
  • Poppy Seed Fingers
  • 6 large slices brown or white bread ( toast thick)
  • 1/3 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup poppy seeds or Black Sesame seeds
  • 2 level tbsp mixed chopped herbs-parsley, chives,basil
  • 1 tsp dried herbs de provence
  • 10 grinds black pepper
  • pinch paprika pepper
  • sea salt

Method

Step 1

Remove the crusts from the bread, and cut each piece into four to six fingers. Put the melted butter, seeds and other ingredients ( except the salt) in two different shallow containers. Quickly dip the bread fingers in and out of the butter and the seeds, coating both sides. Arrange on a rack or cooling tray, sprinkle lightly with sea salt and bake in a slow oven, 300F until crisp-- about 15 mins
