Beef with Cashews


 This recipe serves 4


  • 1 lb rump steak
  • 3 oz unsalted roasted cashews
  • 8 shallots (green onions)
  • 2 cloves garlic Garlic, raw
  • 1 inch piece fresh ginger
  • 3 tbsp oil Oil, olive, salad or cooking
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch Cornstarch
  • ½ cup water Water, municipal
  • 2 tsp sate sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil Oil, sesame, salad or cooking
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce Soy sauce made from soy and wheat (shoyu), low sodium


Step 1

Remove excess fat from meat. Cut meat in thin slices, about 2 inches long. Heat two tablespoons oil in pan or wok, add half the beef, cook until well browned, remove from wok, brown remaining meat. Chop green onions into 1 inch pieces: peel ginger and chop finely, crush garlic Heat remaining oil in pan. add garlic, green onions, ginger and cashews, saute one minute. Add meat to pan with vegetables, toss well. Combine cornstarch, water sate sauce, sesame oil and soy sauce, mix well. Add to pan, stir until boiling and well combined. Serve on Chinese noodles
