Sunday Night Dinner: LA Style

Just 3 weeks into my new place in Los Angeles and I was literally dying to cook a real dinner for some people. After a lazy Sunday morning of searching through the newest Bon Appetite on my iPad (while watching the World Swimming Championships, GO USA!), I found recipes for Pickled Nectarine Salad and Citrus-Marinated Chicken Thighs. I especially like the part of the magazine that these recipes came from, “The BA Kitchen”, because it tells you how many calories are in each serving. Very helpful for those of us who just moved to a town where being fit is a way of life. The stereotypes are true. I also decided to make Smitten Kitchen’s One-Pan Farro with Tomatoes as a side because I’ve been madly addicted to it for the past 2 weeks. I wasn’t aware I could like something with tomatoes in it so much.

I invited one of my best friends from college and her roommate over to see my new place and try these new recipes. I couldn’t have been happier to see old friends and new eating food that was fun and easy to prepare. All while sitting on my new favorite barstools, with the windows open (my favorite part of LA, the windows are always open). Sunday night dinners are not the same here as they were in Virginia with my family, but I enjoyed the familiarity of sharing a meal with others to close the weekend.
