Restaurant Review Rocky V Cafe Kanab Utah
During a sweep through the famous highway 89 red rock tour we found ourselves staying over in . To our delight we found the wonderful Rocky V Cafe restaurant for dinner. Nicely decorated with bold colors and local artist work on the walls you feel welcome the moment you walk in.
The menu has a broad selection of offerings. We selected the Deep dish enchiladas and tomato pesto couscous cakes. It was offered with a soup or salad. The soup was Potato and Gorgonzola which had good consistency and flavor. The potato and cheese were balanced to perfection. The house salad included a nice mixture of greens including kale. The soup and salad were served with a very good focaccia bread. I have always said that restaurants should be measured by bread. If it is good, you know your meal will be good.
The deep dish enchiladas were served piled high and covered in a tomatillo sauce. Pleasant to the eye and a taste sensation as the flavors were spot on here. Thank you for not over salting the food.
The tomato pesto couscous cakes caught my eye on the menu and it is an excellent choice. Served on greens and a side of vegetables the cakes were layered on the plate with great fork appeal. The cakes held together well with good texture. The pesto flavor was there but not overpowering. Overall a great entree that needs no improvement. We will have to make an attempt of creating this entree.
The menu had a good selection of desserts with two specials of the day. We tried the bread pudding. It had a firm texture with a whiskey caramel sauce. It was good but not as good as our recipe with chocolate chips.
This was excellent dining experience at a moderate price. Not surprising, the owners are environmentally aware using many sustainable practices.
If you are looking for food treasures around Rt 89 country, this is worth the stop. We will be back when traveling through the area.
