Greek Appetizer Meatballs

The Greeks call these Keftedakia they are an interesting blend of flavours
Ingredients
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1/2 cup soft bread crumbs
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 Tbs snipped fresh mint
- 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/8 tsp pepper
- 1/2 lb lean ground beef
- 1/2 lb ground lamb
- 1/2 cup shredded cucumber
- 1/2 cup plain low-fat yogurt
- pita bread rounds, quartered
- mint leaves
- cucumber slices
Method
Step 1
Combine egg and bread crumbs in a mixing bowl. Add onion, garlic, mint, cinnamon, salt and pepper; mix well. Add ground meats; mix well. Shape into 1 inch balls
Step 2
Place in a 15X10X1-inch baking pan. Bake in a 350F oven about 15 minutes or till done.
Step 3
Pat cucumber dry with a paper towel. Stir cucumber into yogurt.
Step 4
Transfer meatballs to serving plate. Serve with quartered pita rounds and cucumber-yogurt mixture. Garnish with mint leaves and cucumber slices.
