Cherry Squares


A chewy, colorful christmas bar. The shortbread base accents the chewy topping. The mixture of red and green cherries provides a colourful display for Santa’s Christmas plate. Suitable for freezing.  This recipe serves


  • 1 cup butter Butter, without salt
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar Sugars, brown
  • 2 cups flour Wheat flour, white, all-purpose, enriched, unbleached
  • 1 cup raisins Raisins, seedless
  • 1 cup almonds Nuts, almonds
  • 1/2 tin Eagle Brand Milk
  • 1/2 cup red cherry halves Tomatoes, red, cherry, raw
  • 1/2 cup green cherry halves


Step 1

Pre-heat oven to 275 degrees (F)Base - Mix butter, brown sugar and flour together. Once mixed well, pat mixture into greased 8x14 or 2 8 x8 pans.Topping - Mix raisins, almonds, milk and cherries together, spread on the base.Bake 275 degrees (F) for 1 hour. Remove and cool.
