A savory salad dressed in sesame soy vinaigrette with cashews and wonton strips was the Asian Salad as part of the “Seven Deadly Sins” dinner party.
Ingredients
- 225 ml bamboo shoots (8 oz)
- 218 ml can water chestnuts (7.5 oz)
- 1 handful bean sprouts
- 2 green onions, sliced
- ½ cup candied cashews
- ½ cup wonton strips
- 1 tbsp. sesame Oil
- ¼ cup soy Sauce
- ¼ cup red wine vinegar
- 3 tbsp. sesame seeds
- ground black pepper to taste
Method
Step 1
Toast sesame seeds on a baking sheet under a grill until they turn golden. Mix sesame oil, soy sauce and red wine vinegar together. Add pepper to taste and stir in sesame seeds.
Step 2
Mix bamboo shoots, water chestnuts, onions and bean sprouts together in a salad bowl, cover with dressing and let sit for at least an hour. When plating, top with cashews and wonton strips divided equally between servings.
