Apple Sour Cream Crumble Pie

- FILLING Pie fillings, canned, cherry
- 1 cup granulated sugar Sugars, granulated
- 2 tbsp flour Wheat flour, white, all-purpose, enriched, unbleached
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon Spices, cinnamon, ground
- ¾ cup sour cream Cream, sour, cultured
- 1 tsp vanilla Vanilla extract
- 7 cups peeled, cored, sliced apples ( Northern Spy best)
- 1 10 inch unbaked pie shell
- CRUMBLE TOPPING
- ½ cup flour Wheat flour, white, all-purpose, enriched, unbleached
- ½ cup firmly packed brown sugar Sugars, brown
- 1 tsp cinnamon Spices, cinnamon, ground
- 1/3 cup cold butter
Method
Step 1
FILLING: In a large bowl, combine sugar, flour and cinnamon. Blend in sour cream and vanilla. Add apples, and mix thoroughly to coat all slices. Transfer to pie shell, smoothing top . CRUMBLE TOPPING: Mix together flour, brown sugar and cinnamon. using a pastry blender, cut the butter into the flour mixture to make a coarse crumble. Bake at 425F for 15 minutes, Reduce heat to 350F and bake 30-35 minutes or until the apples are tender and crust is browned. If rim is browning too quickly, cover lightly with a strip of foil.
