Restaurant Review Emerils at Universal
Recently I had the opportunity to visit Emerils” at Universal Theme Park with my family. We had no idea what to expect but soon realized it was not New Orleans. The restaurant was pleasant and service good but the maitre d’ may have just as well stayed in his office instead of visiting tables. “Hello, how are you?” as he passes by does not make one feel welcome or special.
The food ranged from excellent to poor depending on the dish ordered. Steaks and the scallops received excellent ratings. The free range chicken and duck breast only average. Appetizers, soup of the day and mushroom pasta were great. Spinach salad and the Caprese were good. The crab cake missed the mark-too big and too much filling was the main problem. The white bean base was the best part. The white cheddar potato cakes were huge muffin size, and dry. The lyonnaise potatoes were hard, fried potatoes chips with some onions thrown in. The bread offered at the beginning of the meals were bland and dry. Costco makes better bread.
The evening was just great as we had most of the family present coming from near and far. Overall I would rate the restaurant as pleasant but the food was disappointing for the price and our expectations.

I’m glad that you aren’t comparing it to his restaurants in New Orleans. The lamb shank I had at Emeril’s Delmonico this past October was unreal. It was one of the best meals and best service I have ever experienced!
